Public research briefs
Useful ideas for companies I’d genuinely like to help.
I research the problem behind a real marketing role, compare it with the wider market, and turn public evidence into testable growth and operating-model hypotheses.
Latest field notes
Not speculative audits. Each brief separates sourced facts from hypotheses, states what I would test, and makes the uncertainty visible.
Hostaway's search opportunity: turn operational intelligence into a discovery moat
Hostaway is hiring a senior owner for both traditional and generative search just as AI CoHost changes the product story from property-management software to operational intelligence. The search opportunity is to make Hostaway's proprietary category evidence and product knowledge easier to retrieve, cite, compare and act on across the buyer journey.
Hunter's lifecycle opportunity: make the product expansion visible in the user journey
Hunter has expanded from email finding into an integrated prospecting, data and outreach platform. The lifecycle opportunity is to help users discover that broader value through behavior-led activation, not simply send more nurture email.
Trusted Shops' self-service growth opportunity: make trust value compound after activation
Trusted Shops is hiring an owner for self-service activation, adoption and expansion while its product surface is widening from trustmark and reviews into AI-assisted reputation and machine-readable trust. The growth opportunity is to organize that breadth around observable customer outcomes rather than feature exposure.
UpSlide's product-marketing opportunity: own the trusted layer between AI drafts and financial deliverables
UpSlide is repositioning from Microsoft 365 productivity software toward a document-production layer for AI-enabled financial services. The product-marketing opportunity is to make that category commercially legible: prove where generic AI stops, package the trusted workflow layer around concrete jobs, and connect product evidence to pricing, enablement and expansion.
What this is trying to prove
A CV says what someone has done. A useful research object shows how they investigate ambiguity, connect evidence, form hypotheses and decide what to build next.
Find the actual problem.
Role, product, customers, competitors, market structure, current changes and the company’s own public language.
Bring in the wider market.
Use live marketing-job data where it creates a comparison the company’s own job description cannot provide.
End with falsifiable ideas.
Hypothesis → evidence needed → smallest useful test → metric → failure condition.
